Positive Traction has acquired four more Class 08s from Swietelsky for conversion into electric ‘e08s’ following successful trials with 08308.
The locomotives bought are 08428, 08742/782/786 and they have been moved to the company’s operation at Chesterfield from Worksop.
Currently being converted is 08296 and this is expected to be used by Heidelberg for trials. PT is also in talks with other potential customers, both at home and internationally.
08308 had been to Neville Hill for trials, but was returned to Chesterfield for attention to a traction motor and is expected to return to the Leeds depot operated by East Midlands Railway and Northern.
Meanwhile, PT has announced that Alister Betts has joined the team as Chief Financial Officer. Based in London, Alister has worked for over 35 years in finance across many sectors, starting in retail banking management in Westbury, before setting up his own practice in 2009 .
PT said: “Alister has a lifelong interest in railways so will combine his considerable financial experience to bridge the gap between the two sides of the business. We are all looking forward to Alister assisting Positive Traction with our growth in the coming years as we continue to deliver new technology to the rail sector.”
