Six power cars that had been at Great Yarmouth have all been removed, as Romic moves its operations from the Eastern Rail Services site to the Mid-Norfolk Railway.

On January 14, Rail Adventure’s 43468/480 moved 43027, 43238, 43312/319 to this new home, while 43006/029 were collected by road and also taken to the MNR. That leaves just 43112 at Yarmouth.

43006/027 have been robbed for parts and are not part of the Romic export plan. 43006, which does not have an engine, has been offered for sale, and if no buyers come forward it will inevitably go for scrap.

On January 15, 43468/480 collected Mk 3 coaches 41087, 42097, 42376, 44012 and 45003 and transferred them to the MNR

Meanwhile, on January 13, after being stripped for spare parts, former Great Western Railway 43161 was broken up by contractors at the Plym Valley Railway.

A week later, ex-LNER 43300

was collected from the Reid Freight Yard near Stoke-on-Trent.

The crash-damaged, bogie-less power car had been moved to Longton in May 2022, and had been earmarked for conversion to a glamping unit. However, that project was shelved.

It was then advertised on eBay before being sold to Sandbach Car Dismantlers for scrap. It was taken by road to Middlewich on January 20 and cut up shortly after arrival.

Finally, stored 43367 was collected by road on January 17 from the UK Rail Leasing works at Loughborough and taken to Ely for further storage.
