A South Devon MP is hoping for a second U-turn from the government, after the new station promised for Cullompton was cancelled one day after Chancellor Rachel Reeves told Parliament that it would definitely go ahead.
Richard Foord (Liberal Democrat, Honiton and Sidmouth) has met Rail Minister Lord Peter Hendy to seek assurances that money will be forthcoming to reopen the station - 15 miles north of Exeter on the West of England line.

Richard Foord (Liberal Democrat, Honiton and Sidmouth) has met Rail Minister Lord Peter Hendy to seek assurances that money will be forthcoming to reopen the station - 15 miles north of Exeter on the West of England line.
The well-developed proposals had been advanced £50 million before the previous government’s Restoring Your Railway scheme was halted on July 29.
Two weeks after the plug was pulled, Hendy told Mid Devon District Council: “While we will attempt to consider the Wellington and Cullompton stations project, I want to be clear at this stage that the government will not be able to afford all projects under the funding that we have available.”
