Virgin Trains completes It’s a Wonderful Life installation

Virgin Trains has painted the script of festive film classic It’s a Wonderful Life on its West Coast Main Line stations.

The project began at London Euston in November and concluded at Glasgow Central with the final lines of the film, from the Scottish poem Auld Lang Syne.

It was conducted with charity partner Rethink Mental Illness, in recognition of how hard the festive period can be for some people and the impact that simple acts of kindness can have. A web link directs viewers to information, advice and support around mental health.

In total, the project involved the creation of nearly five miles of text, using 750 litres of yellow paint, and 60 hours of overnight painting. More than 66,000 letters were painted.

Stations involved were Euston, Rugby, Birmingham International, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, Liverpool Lime Street, Preston, Carlisle and Glasgow Central.

Those 2 police officers in the picture are having a good time taking pictures of the installation work. But well done Virgin Trains.
