Passengers deserve better information

Train operating companies (TOCs) and Network Rail need to improve passenger information, according to Rail Minister Paul Maynard on January 16.

Replying to Stewart Jackson (Conservative, Peterborough) in a House of Commons question session, Maynard said: “Not only do we need a single source of information that is consistent, but it needs to provide the most up-to-date information.

“It is not acceptable for people who have checked their phones on leaving home and thought that their train was on time to find, by the time they get to the station, that the train has been cancelled. That is not good enough.”

Jackson had asked Maynard to prevail on TOCs and NR to improve communications with passengers during disruption.
