Manchester Airport station to close for improvement work

Manchester Airport station will close from January 17 to February 9, as Network Rail completes the construction of a fourth platform there.

NR says the majority of the work to build the fourth platform was carried out during construction of the Metrolink platform, ensuring that disruption caused by the expansion was kept to a minimum.

To complete the work, which includes finishing platform improvements with new CCTV and information screens, only two platforms will be in use between January 11 and January 17. The station will then be closed to all trains.
