Patrols to combat Warwick trespass

Network Rail has increased the number of patrols at Warwick station, following a “worrying rise” in the number of people crossing the tracks.

Ten cases of trespass have been reported since May, after the subway connecting both platforms was closed to enable the installation of new lifts.

A diversionary route has been created around the outside of the station, to temporarily provide platform access. But it seems that not all passengers are willing to use it.

“The diversion route is necessary while we make the railway more accessible to everyone,” said NR scheme project manager Elinor Weymouth.

“A short cut is not worth risking your life for.”
