The railways have long understood that memorable pictures are a key way to promote themselves - although those on this page are actually the efforts of a private group. 

Founded in 1972, the Phoenix Railway Photographic Circle encourages innovative railway photography using a variety of techniques and approaches, promoting its members’ work through books, magazine features and public exhibitions
