TSSA members vote for US merger

TSSA union members have voted by a margin of more than eight to one in favour of merging with US-based union the Boilermakers.

A ballot which closed on March 1 had a turnout of 32%, with more than 5,000 individual members voting online. Of those who voted, 85% said yes and just 15% said no. 

The merger is believed to be the first time that a British trade union has joined with a north American one.
