Weymouth-Bristol to shut for 16 days

A 16-day closure will be required for what Network Rail describes as “major surgery” for the Weymouth-Bristol line.

Great Western Railway services will be replaced throughout by buses, allowing almost five miles of track to be replaced in the Maiden Newton, Chetnole and Yetminster areas. The closure takes place from November 18-December 3.

The line between Weymouth and Wool will also close, on November 22, followed by the Weymouth-Dorchester South route from November 23-26. Buses will replace South Western Railway trains.

Work includes painting, and repaving platforms, at Upwey and Weymouth.
