Virtual reality aid for disabled users

A ‘Serious Game’ virtuality reality simulation is being developed to support disabled people to better access travel on Northern’s services.

Said to be the first of its kind, the technology will allow passengers to explore their journey and the support they require in advance, from the comfort of their own home.

Users will be able to experience using trains and stations, and interact with station and on-board staff in what the company describes as “a realistic simulated environment”.

The simulation will be available for people to access via their own smartphones, tablets, PCs and even virtuality reality headsets.
