More Leeds track issues resolved

Track layout design shortcomings at Leeds station that were not sorted out during its multi-million-pound rebuilding in 1999-2002 are being resolved this month.

The rails into Platforms 4 and 6 are being realigned along with masts and overhead wires, and a chamber is being constructed underneath Platforms 3 and 4 for signalling cables. The work is mostly taking place on Sunday evenings until October 10.

The entire project is expected to be completed early next year, although more station remodelling will be needed if the eastern leg of HS2 is approved because more capacity and flexibility will be required at the southern end.
