Minister visits hydrogen project

Arcola Energy’s scheme to convert an electric multiple unit to run on hydrogen has reached the halfway point, marked by a visit from Scotland’s Transport Minister Graeme Day on July 6.

Angel Trains, Transport Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and the University of St Andrews are backing the scheme to convert a former ScotRail Class 314.

The intention is to demonstrate a ‘deployment ready’ hydrogen train during the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow in November.
