The new Northern franchise that starts on April 1 will offer greater capacity, upgraded trains, better station facilities and increased frequency of trains at some locations along the Calder Valley line by 2020, but more is needed to attain the level of passenger services sought by local councillors.
That is the view of the Calder Valley Line Development Group, formed of councillors from West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.
The Calder Valley line links Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Rochdale and Manchester, and the Group’s wish list includes: a twice-hourly service for Sowerby Bridge and Brighouse; services between Rochdale and Bradford increased to two per hour; a fast train to serve Brighouse; improved station car parks; and all York-Blackpool trains to stop at Sowerby Bridge.

Does that mean the Calder Valley Line could be electrified along with Class 319 EMU's being used. Or would it remain as it is but with DMU trains using the line.
