Doubt remains as to the exact location of an East Leeds Parkway station, to be sited west of Garforth station and targeted to open around 2022.

While the favoured location has been on the site of the former Peckfield Colliery, for over ten years developers have had ambitions that the station should serve the Thorpe Park business park.

The West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Transport Committee was told on February 26 that “the lack of current clarity around any Northern Powerhouse Rail alignment to the east of Leeds” could also mean that any new station built on the Leeds-Micklefield corridor may only be able to offer local stopping services to Leeds, rather than the longer-distance destinations”.
