Manchester Metrolink launched its Get me there ticketing app on November 10.
The App enables Apple or Android smartphone users to buy a range of tickets anywhere before they board a tram, thereby reducing queues. Once bought, the travelcard is stored on the passenger’s phone, and they show it when asked.
Free to download from app stores, it also allows purchase via Apple Pay. There are built-in security features to prevent it being used fraudulently.
Initially, it will offer Travelcards for one day, a weekend, or seven days travel.
