Steam specials on Borders line

Steam trains return to the Borders line on September 10, with tickets now available.

The steam-hauled specials will start running four days after scheduled passenger trains begin on the Borders on September 6, running for the first time since January 1969.

They will be operated by ScotRail in partnership with Steam Dreams, and will use A4 60009 Union of South Africa. The trains will run from Edinburgh Waverley every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday for six weeks from September 10.

Tickets are £75 for First Class tickets, £40 for Standard Class, and £20 for a Standard Class child’s ticket (under 16). A family ticket (two adults and two children, Standard Class) is priced at £100. All tickets include train travel on ScotRail services to get to and from the steam train on the same day.
