The Rail Operations Group Class 93s, of which eight of the ten ordered are now in the UK, have started to be used on proving runs to new destinations including Ipswich and Glasgow Central.

The Rail Operations Group Class 93s, of which eight of the ten ordered are now in the UK, have started to be used on proving runs to new destinations including Ipswich and Glasgow Central.

The latest arrival is 93005, which docked at Bristol Port on June 3 and was moved by road to Worksop the following day by Allely’s Heavy Haulage.

It leaves just 93008/009 still to ship to the UK. These are expected to land around June 30 or in the first week of July.

93003/004/007/010 have been moved into the GROG active pool, but 93005/006 remain in the MBEL pool.

On June 2, 93001/002 were used for two return test runs between Worksop and Newark Northgate via Retford.

Two days later, 93001/007 undertook the same test runs, followed by 93002/003 on June 5.

On June 9, there was a major 'escaping' from Worksop as 93001 reached Glasgow Central on the 0615 from Worksop Down Yard, running via Derby, Crewe and the West Coast Main Line. It when worked the 1533 Glasgow Central-Carlisle.
