HNRC Swietelsky has had its first locomotive painted in its new livery, with 37422 now sporting a striking ‘half and half’ orange and blue paint scheme.
The locomotive was repainted by UK Rail Leasing at Loughborough and emerged on March 31.
On April 2 it ran light to Worksop, from where it will be returned to traffic. It will be the third ex-Direct Rail Services Class 37/4 the company has returned to use, after 37405/425. Next in line should be 37424.
It brings the HNRCS active Class 37 fleet on the main line up to six (37405/422/425, 37607/610/612), although 37612 has been stopped for some time for repairs.
Also close to returning to use is 37716, which is likely to be sent to the East Lancashire Railway for its July diesel gala to be run in. It has been stripped of its DRS decals.
Some of the HNRCS Class 37s that are unlikely to be reactivated could be disposed of soon. Under threat are 37038/259/603/604. It also owns 37059/419/602/609.
