Balfour Beatty has added a couple of minor modifications to its two Class 20s (20901/905) used on its Drain Train operations.
The locomotives now have conduits on the cab fronts to power the lights, which are below the bufferbeam and used to light up worksites in the dark.
On the body sides, a fall arrest system that protects staff from ground-level working on the sole bar has been fitted.
This was designed to utilise existing bolt holes so as to not damage the fabric of the locomotives. The handrails remain for those who need them.
They two ‘20s’ are also having new fuel gauges on all the tanks, and new door locks fitted.
They returned to Barrow Hill on March 25 for maintenance and routine exams.
