The last of Avanti West Coast’s ten Class 807 electric multiple units has been delivered from the Hitachi factory at Newton Aycliffe, and has run under its own power to Oxley.
The seven-car unit, which has been wrapped in a colourful ‘Together we roll’ diversity wrap, is due to star at the Greatest Gathering event on August 1-3, after which it will enter passenger traffic. It is the last of the 23 Hitachi AT300 units delivered to Avanti (13 bi-mode Class 805s and the ‘807’ EMUs).
Other new trains to carry passengers for the first time in recent weeks include Transport for Wales’ 756006 on June 20, 756001 on June 27, and 756002 two days later.
This leaves 756003 as the last of TfW’s 24 Stadler FLIRTS to carry passengers.
South Western Railway put 701018 into use on June 6, followed by 701025 on June 24, meaning that 15 of the fleet are now signed off for passenger work.
Tyne & Wear Metro’s tenth Class 555 to be accepted was 555008 on June 27, while 555018/038 were delivered on July 10.
And London Northwestern Railway’s 730210/234 entered passenger use on June 23 - the fifth and sixth of the fleet now active on the WCML.
