An off-lease Class 221 has travelled to Wrexham General to help train drivers on the potential open access service to London Euston.
The unit (221104) ran from Central Rivers TMD to Wrexham via Walsall, Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury on March 10, before heading back along the same route and onto Alstom’s Litchurch Lane site in Derby.
The journey was carried out to check platform lengths and help get drivers familiar on part of the route that will be used by the Wrexham, Shropshire and Midlands Railway, should the service get Office of Rail and Road approval.
No lease has so far been signed for the Alstom/SLC Rail-backed project to take on any units.

East-West Rail seems complete from Oxford to Milton Keynes, but there is no word as to when it may open. Have you any information, please?
