A batch of JHA hopper wagons were taken to Crewe in early January for scrapping.

The rake of 34 aggregates wagons taken from Merehead Quarry to Exeter Riverside Yard on December 20, before being moved to Crewe Gresty Green Through Sidings on January 9.

Aggregate Industries is replacing 183 JHA wagons with 203 HOAs.

The batch moved on January 9 was the fourth out of a total of six. The fourth set of replacements is due to arrive next week.

The Foster Yeoman liveried rake was photographed passing the site of the former Silverton station near Exeter, behind Freightliner’s 66572.

The final JHA wagons are set to leave the Somerset quarries in April, with two being kept for moving ballast around the site.
