A man has been arrested on suspicion of endangerment on the railway after a train hit the buffers at London Bridge station.
A Class 377 Electrostar EMU on the 1450 Southern service from London Victoria was travelling at low speed when it hit the buffers at London Bridge’s platform 12 at 1545 on Friday December 13.
Police were called, leading to an arrest being made.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said: “Officers attended and there were no reported injuries. One man was arrested on suspicion of endangerment on the railway. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
Govia Thameslink Railway confirmed BTP and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) were notified.
A RAIB spokeswoman added: “Evidence is being gathered as part of the process of conducting a preliminary examination and a decision on whether an investigation will be launched will be taken once the evidence has been reviewed.”
The ‘377’ was taken back to depot later that day, with platform 12 reopening the following morning.
