Northern has reduced the amount of time passengers had to buy Advance tickets.
Previously available up to five minutes prior to departure times, the operator changed this to 15 minutes from Monday November 4.
Northern said that sales of such tickets were up almost 10% in the last year, rising from 2.23 million in 2023 to 2.43m in 2024. The change to 15 minutes brings machine and online sale times into line with ticket office purchases, something that’s understood to have been inconsistent across the network.
Mark Powles, the operator’s Commercial and Customer Director said the move was “part of our commitment to ensure consistent ticket prices across all of our retail channels”.
