The first Class 807 Evero has reached Liverpool Lime Street on a passenger service.

The unit, 807001, operated the 0901 to London Euston on Monday November 11, returning on the 1305 from the capital.

Avanti West Coast, which operates the fleet of seven-carriage trains, said their introduction would allow it to run more services between the two cities. Currently Avanti runs an hourly service.

The run came two weeks after the first unit was used on a passenger service, when 807003 operated two round trips between Birmingham New Street and Euston.

Managing director Andy Mellors said Avanti had received “fantastic” feedback, and was “confident these new trains will provide a significant step change in comfort”.

“The challenge we have is to now build on this excitement, which coupled with our recent upturn in performance and plans to run more services, will improve connectivity to the regions we serve and encourage more people to opt for rail,” he said.

Two ‘807s’ will be used on weekdays up until the December timetable change, when more weekday and weekend services are planned.

One unit will operate the 0901 Liverpool Lime Street-London Euston and 1305 return, while the other will be used on the 0457 Wolverhampton-Euston, 0743 Euston-Liverpool, 1043 Liverpool-Euston and 1705 Euston-Blackpool. After arriving at Blackpool 2000, the unit departs at 2105 to return to its Oxley base.

807004 was used on the second diagram on Monday.

Four Class 807s have now been accepted into traffic, with 006 joining 001, 003 and 004.
