GWR returns to network

The Great Western Railway brand returned to the railway from London Paddington on September 21, when First Great Western was relaunched.

GWR is the brand name for the franchise to be operated by FirstGroup until 2019, after it was awarded the deal earlier this year. GWR said the rebrand is “centred on the company’s commitment to putting its people and customers first”.

As part of the new deal, 29 AT300 bi-mode trains are on order from Hitachi. They will be introduced alongside Class 800 Super Express Trains, with the AT300s arriving in 2018 and the SETs from 2017.

What a waste of time. Passengers would rather have a proper buffet and tables lined up with windows than a new paint job.
