We are hosting a recruitment day for our next intake of rail trainee engineers in Leeds.
This qualification has been developed to provide learners with an advanced knowledge and understanding of the practices and processes of rail engineering technologies. It covers the knowledge, understanding and skills that have been identified in order to be able to operate effectively in a job role within the Rail Engineering Sector.
Some of the top areas covered on the programme are Railway Civil Engineering, Track Engineering, Signalling, Railway infrastructure, Overhead Line Equipment Construction, Maintenance, Railway infrastructure – Function and characteristics of railway signalling.
Successful candidates will have to take the following training:
* Level 3 Diploma in Rail Engineering Technology and Maintenance
* Personal Track Safety (PTS) – Deals with all safety aspects you my encounter on the line.
* Track Induction Course (TIC) – Allows the candidate to be able to change, maintain and fix components.
* Small plant tickets – a series of petrol driven tools the learner can use on the track.
* Industry Common Induction (ICI) – this is mandatory to allow workers to go on or near the line.
* Direct Current Conductor Rail (DCCR) this will allow workers to work in and around electrified DC rails.
* Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW).
* Manual Handling
Our part time courses are specifically designed to give you the ability to change your career path. You will gain the necessary skills required to enter employment in the railway industry.
You will undertake both practical and classroom based learning during your time at our Centre in Leeds.
This will give you everything you need to embark on your new career, Interview and employment available for successful candidates after the course is completed.
Who can access this programme?
Aged 19 years or older (on or after the 1st August 2018)
Been a UK resident or have been living in the EU for the past 3 years
How long will the course take to complete?
We run courses of varying length either 1 day or 2 days a week, we also run evening courses which are two evenings a week.
How can the course be funded?
To help with the costs of the course You can take advantage of the Government’s Student Finance Scheme. Details can be found on the government website.
Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.
You start repaying once you earn over a certain amount. The size of your monthly repayments will depend on how much you earn, not what you owe.
Example - if you earn £28,800 per year you will repay £23 per month back.
Requirements:
* Have a valid passport or original birth certificate
* Basic Maths and English
* Have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years
* Aged 19 or above
Please be aware when working on the infrastructure it has a zero tolerance to drugs and alcohol.
