As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

Working with a leading Rail Civil Engineering contractor I am currently recruiting for a Site Agent to join their team on a contract basis and work on a project in Wiltshire. Reporting progress to a Project Manager the responsibilities for the Site Agent are:

To manage the engineering and management delivery of schemes
Be responsible for ensuring the works are delivered safely; to specification, budget and programme
Management of site activities including subcontractors
Monitor programme and progress reporting
Cost Forecasting for the section of works
Material procurement approvals
Provide technical engineering support as a key member of the team
Leadership / support / guidance and management to section engineers and site engineers
Preparation of methods and procedures supported by diagrams and sketches for Work Package Plans
Management of temporary works
QA / QCTo be considered for this Site Agent position you must have prior experience and proven ability of working in a similar position delivering civil engineering works within a Network Rail environment and be able to demonstrate proactive commitment to HSEQ issues. You should also hold PTS and SMSTS and have experience of temporary works and engineering methods.

Rates available for this position are in the region of £300 to £350 per day on a Ltd Company or umbrella company basis.
