As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).
So: Should the UK Government provide financial assistance to Eurostar?

Join a Global Subject Matter Expert in the crucial stages of a hugely ambitious and challenging UK expansion programme.

You're likely to be an experienced Systems Safety Engineer or Consultant with over 4 years' experience, looking for a role with a more significant impact and an entrepreneurial edge.

I am working closely with a Management Consultancy who have unrivalled pedigree in niche areas within transport including RAMS and systems / safety assurance. The UK business was established nearly 10 years ago and has grown rapidly through an enviable track record in the delivery of large systems based projects. They have offices worldwide and delivered projects across the world. They have recently been acquired by a larger entity who are now looking to heavily invest in and grow the UK market.

Having met with the Director of the UK business unit recently, it is clear that this represents a unique career opportunity for the right Systems Engineer, one in which you will be able to impact upon bottom line profit and business strategy, while leapfrogging ahead of your peers in terms of career development.

The role will essentially be one of delivery on a massive pipeline of critical projects across Rail and Aviation, and supporting the expansion over the next three year. As such the role will give you the rare chance to make a real difference to the business and the industry.

If you have over four years' experience in a consultancy environment working on Systems safety projects within the Transport (Rail or Aviation) industry, please send me your CV or get in touch so I can run you through the full details.
