As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

Senior Rail Project Manager - Essex - £55-65k

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Rail Project Manager, you will have a strong Civils Rail background. You will join our clients expanding team based in Essex with travel across the Anglia region for site visits and be directly responsible for the daily management of various rail and civil engineering projects within our portfolio work. The salary is £55-65,000 + car and excellent benefits

Key Responsibilities/Expectations
You will be responsible for leading successful contract delivery, by ensuring that the site team are fully appraised of the contract parameters and have the capability and resources necessary to achieve contract objectives.
Day to day responsibilities including but not limited to:
*Involvement/input in projects at all stages from pre-qualifying and tendering through to completion.
*Ensuring that the site team are fully apprised of the contract parameters and have the capability and resources necessary to achieve contract objectives.
*Ensuring that the contract is executed in accordance with the requirements of:
oAll applicable legislation
oThe Terms and Conditions of the contract
oThe Contract Health and Safety Plan
oThe Contract Quality/Environmental Plan
*Delivery of the contract within programme and budget.
*Control and management of sub contract resources to the highest levels of safety, quality and efficiency.
*The continuous monitoring of contract progress to ensure contract objectives are being met.
*Ensuring that, in conjunction with the Project Delivery Team, changes to the contract are identified, agreed and effectively managed.
*The provision of formal reports on contract progress to the Framework Manager.
*To identify business development opportunities.

Qualifications/Knowledge
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Project Manager in a rail and civil engineering environment.
*Degree / HNC or HND in civil engineering (or equivalent compensating experience in a technical engineering role)
*CRE/DPE ideally
*PTS / SMSTS
*Experience as a Project Manager in a rail contracting environment.
