As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

Senior Rail Modelling - Capacity planning

Location: Manchester

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience.

An exciting opportunity has come about with one of our key Rail Consultancy clients for an experienced Rail Modelling professional to join their growing Capacity Planning team. The role due to sustained and continued growth is a Senior Rail Modelling Analyst. The purpose of the role is to develop innovative solutions to optimise available rail network capacity, using rail simulation modelling.

A great opportunity for those looking to step up into a management Consultancy role or just join a company that is going places, growing year on year and is well place to work on several key projects moving forward.

Roles and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Performing timetable and performance modelling analysis
Providing innovative solutions in assessing rail capacity using rail simulation techniques
Calculation of timetable planning rules and sectional running times
Understanding the relationship between rolling stock, infrastructure, and simulation
Producing timetable capacity reports
Supporting infrastructure projects through simulation of signalling proposals
Ad hoc project reporting

The client is happy to accept applications from the wider Transport planning disciplines and transferable industries: Bus, Airports, Freight, Traffic

Experience Required:

Rail Simulation Modelling experience.
Industry standard rail simulation software experience.
Knowledge of rail signalling and rail Operations and how they are simulated in modelling tools.
Good analytical skills.
Excellent level of general computer literacy.
Good written and verbal communications skills.
High attention to detail
