As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

An opportunity has arisen to join a leading infrastructure contractor looking to expand their team in the South of England.

You will be responsible for the following:

*Ensuring there is effective cost management of the Project(s) through regular and
accurate forecasting and cost/value reporting.
*Be aware of the contractual requirements of the Project(s), advise the project team
on key requirements and ensure that all notices and other matters are actioned
accordingly to protect the company's contractual position
*To act professionally always and promote the company's best standards and practices.
*Being aware of and actioning any potential business development opportunities.
*Identification of process flaws and assisting with developing improved processes.

They are looking for looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial function on Rail Highways projects. You will need to have a higher level (HNC or Degree) qualification in Quantity Surveying, ideally Chartered. At least 5-10 years commercial experience with involvement in Rail and Highways infrastructure projects in the construction industry and experienced in using NEC form of contract.
