Senior Planner - Rail Civil - Site Based
Location - Newcastle - North East
Salary - £60-70,000 + Car, 20%, Bonus & Package
Job Purpose Summary: Ensuring that all relevant company procedures are met in accordance with the Integrated Business Manual.
Essential
Fully conversant in NEC programmes Clause 31 / 32 etc
Good level of Rail Multi-discipline knowledge
Good Schedule Adherence (Primavera) skills
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Act as a strong local leader, ensuring roles and accountabilities are clear on your projects, and if applicable your staff are managed, supported and regularly appraised.
Support the Framework Planning Manager to ensure planning team outputs are consistent in their approach, supporting as necessary.
The planner must be fully competent in the use of Primavera
Ability to translate primavera programmes into other media for clear communication of the project deliverables e.g. PowerPoint phasing charts, excel graphical representation. Knowledge of MS project is also of benefit for interpreting others programmes produced with this software.
The planner will be expected to be fully conversant in the detailed programme deliverables and have the ability to challenge / manage the programme with contingency planning e.g. proactively manage deliverables not wait until the deliverables late
The planner will be expected to understand the full Network Rail GRIP process and project development at GRIP 2 through to Construction and Handback in GRIP 6, 7 & 8
Tendering - Assist proposals team on selected tenders with tender programmes, methodologies, with written narratives.
Attend and support mid- tender and post-tender interviews and support when necessary.
The planner is expected to be able to create a new programme from drawings and within the boundaries of the contract documentation requirements/constraints i.e, contract completion/handover, entry into service dates, specified WBS structure in relation to GRIP, use of possession calendars, and other access limitations which may be key to the logic sequence. It would be an advantage if they are able to challenge designs, say for buildability grounds etc.
Required to analyse progress updates and assess impact(s). With the ability logically review construction sequences e.g. able to spot logic links that can be adjusted to the present sequences of work but understand the importance of recording such changes.
The planner is required to interrogate programme logic and re-programme if necessary for each Period update.
The planner must talk to the design & construction teams and lead them through the client's project deliverables
Understanding of the importance of Key Milestones and ability / confidence to challenge these when they are impacted by progress.
Ability & understanding of drawings and ability to develop these into a programme with the project team. Civils and/or Rail experience is an advantageIt would be an advantage for the planner to be knowledgeable with the following Network Rail systems and have an understanding of how these can be used to develop the programme (not essential as training can be given)
