As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

My client has grown exponentially across the UK, the last 5 years has seen them grow by 500 people and in recent months they have secured a huge pipeline of projects.

They are involved in world class projects specialising in complex infrastructure, process and built environments across the full project life cycle. This role is for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in Rail

Principal Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of Mechanical Building services scope of work across multiple projects, predominantly in the rail sector, as part of a single or multi discipline design team.
Carry out any or all stages of Mechanical Building Services design including HVAC & Public Health from concept to completion as required by the project.
Lead the preparation of enquires for potential major projects, including generation of man-hours estimates.
Lead a multi disciplinary design team where required.
Report on project technical and financial performance to Director.
Actively contribute to the development of the department.
Assure the quality of design by junior team members
Assist in the mentoring and development of more junior engineers.

Experience Required

Experience of working for Network Rail, and railway clients is preferred
Knowledge of Railway Group and Network Rail standards and the Network Rail GRIP process is preferred
Acceptance by Network Rail as a Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) for the Mechanical discipline on previous projects is preferred
Knowledge of proprietary Mechanical Building Services systems for the Rail environment is preferred, particularly lineside and depot equipmentBenefits
