As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

Senior Estimator – Civil Engineering / Rail

North London / Hertfordshire

£90,000 to £100,000 per annum plus package


We are currently recruiting for a senior civil engineering and rail estimator. Our client is a well established regional civil engineering contractor working on Infrastructure, rail and RC Structural projects. The company have a turnover in excess of £90 million and are looking to expand up to £130 million over the next 5 years. This is an excellent opportunity to join a very successful team who are known in the industry for their presence and their delivery of high-profile projects.

The ideal candidate will have tendered for projects in excess of £20m and have a proven track record working for a main contractor. Our client have delivered a large number of projects within the Commercial, Residential, Heavy Civils and Rail. You will report to the Pre-Construction Director and work within a business that prides themselves on their staff retention levels.

As Senior Estimator you will have an excellent understanding of the Estimator role and the overall tendering process. You will be responsible for overseeing major tenders and ensuring there’s a smooth process all the way through to submission.

A minimum of 10 years’ experience working within the civil engineering sector is required. Our client are looking for someone who is driven, highly motivated and has a view of career progression and prospects. You will be recognised and rewarded accordingly for the contributions you make to the team and the chance to work on a wide range of diverse projects across a range of clients.
