As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

Your new company
Your new company is a well known and established multi-disciplinary national engineering consultancy with offices in a number of locations in the UK. They work on some of the UK's most prestigious design projects and currently have a very strong pipeline of work. Due to organic growth, the team in Manchester is looking to make a number of engineering appointments across their technical rail division.

Located ideally in Manchester City Centre, with hybrid working. However other locations in the UK are considered, with offices in both York and Derby.

Your new role
In your new role you will be working as a Senior Civil Engineer, working on a range of large scale, complex and exciting rail design projects. Your will be working within a multi-disciplinary team of passionate and like minded engineers being responsible for rail infrastructure projects across the North. You will be responsible for ensuring suitable technical standards are followed, project management, technical contribution & review of design solutions, management of staff and to ensure key relationships with stakeholders are maintained.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved with the technical delivery and leadership of some of the UK's most sought after infrastructure projects.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the role you will need to from a strong civil engineering having a number of years experience working on the technical delivery of rail design projects. Ideally you will be chartered engineer or be in the process of working towards this.
