As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

An award-winning design consultancy with offices in Kent and Hampshire are looking to recruit a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer with a strong background in designing and detailing rail-based projects into their Kent office.

Our client's disciplines span the Civil Structural and Rail disciplines and due to a significant pick up in their rail projects a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer is needed to help with a variety of rail and infrastructure projects.

Our client's projects include various platform extensions, station refurbishments, access schemes to major stations and general civil/structural infrastructure around Network Rail sites.

Our client has recently opened up their Kent office. This office currently sits at 8 staff members including a Director and this individual will be working closely with the Director and Senior Engineers if this office. Ideally candidates will be minimum HNC/HND qualified with a good number of years' experience under their belt.

Having the ability to detail in both concrete and steel would be a distinct advantage as well as being proficient with the use of AutoCAD. Solid design experience is a must.

Previous exposure to Network Rail projects would be of benefit but not essential.

On offer is a salary of between £50,000 to £55,000 and the opportunity to work for forward thinking firm who can offer great training and support.

All applicants must have a UK driving license and their own vehicle as my client's office is not near a mainline station.

This role is commutable from Orpington, Dartford, Sevenoaks and surrounding areas.
