As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

Senior / Principal Rail Safety Officer - Auckland / Wellington, New Zealand

We are looking for UK based and/or experienced Rail Safety professionals who are interested to apply their skills and experience in New Zealand. With major investment across transport and infrastructure in New Zealand, particularly in rail, we are representing a governing public sector transport authority who are looking for internationals candidates to play a key role in the development of their railways.

The ideal candidates will have a number of years experience focused on rail safety but applying this knowledge across an area or region in a governance, compliance, standards and regulatory capacity. This role will require the incumbent to get up to speed with the rail network and market in NZ, to form understanding of safety policies, establish strong relationships with key stakeholders, to investigate, monitor, audit and assess risk, safety and regulatory compliance. You will have strong knowledge of critical risk, risk assurance, the design of safety systems/operational safety, risk management strategies, and crucially the development of regulatory safety policies and standards.
