Our rail infrastructure client is now looking for a permanent Risk Manager to work out of their Birmingham based location and be reporting directly into their Senior Risk Manager.

This position will suit someone who has previous rail, civils or construction sector experience. You will be working in a small team of internal Risk Managers, plus a series of people from outside contractors. This role is reporting in to the Senior Risk Manager.

You should be able to demonstrate that you have delivered previously within high valued projects. The value of the projects you will be involved in here is an excess of £1 Billion!

1. JOB PURPOSE

Provide risk management services to project and programme teams as set out in risk management policies, strategy processes and procedures.

2. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Titles of all direct reports to the same line manager:

•Risk Manager (x4)

3. ROLE OF DIRECTORATE/DEPARTMENT

•Delivers effective risk management & assurance services to our client, including coordination of all integrated assurance activities

4. ACCOUNTABILITIES

•Provide leadership and guidance in risk management and ensure that principles are applied to all stages of the project lifecycle, to allocate area of programme.

•Proactively ensure that all projects comply with the risk management procedures.

•Manage and guide others in relation to use of risk management data.

•Promote the joint evaluation of risks with contractors to establish a basis for risk sharing and incentives.

•Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI

5. REQUIRED CRITERIA

SKILLS

•Ability to build complex cost, schedule and risk models in a number of applications, appropriate to maturity of projects and programmes

•Ability to develop and implement appropriate risk management actions for identified risks across projects

•Communication skills

•Ability to build and manage relationships both internally and externally with all stakeholders.

•Ability to explain risk assessments to non-specialists,

•Ability to deliver outputs to agreed deadlines and able to demonstrate flexibility

•Problem solving ability to ability to use quantitative research and analytical thinking.

•Ability to work autonomously or in a team environment, motivating self and others.

KNOWLEDGE

•Technical knowledge of all aspects of project and programme risk management and techniques

-Knowledge of current project management and project control processes, particularly on infrastructure or rail projects.

EXPERIENCE

•Experience in a project risk role within large-scale infrastructure projects/commercial construction projects.

-Jobholder will make significant operational decisions regarding risk management elements of projects and will provide risk management expert professional advice to inform decision making.

-No direct budget but significant impact on the overall budget.
