Job Title: Rail Programme Manager - Head of Department (Transformational Change Projects)

Job Description:
Managing a busy Projects office you will be the main point of contact and driving force for all major projects including significant infrastructure upgrades and transformational change projects across all rail operations. You will act as the functional head of department within project management, managing a medium sized team of specialist Project Managers & assistants. You will act as a creative and directive force to identify opportunities for future projects and push these through the approvals and assurances stages, alongside managing the delivery of significant existing and planned programmes. You will act as a Liaison / Stakeholder Manager for all projects within the company and have a strong background within community and stakeholder management.
You must have excellent organisation and stakeholder management skills and have a high regard for upholding safety standards within the workplace. You must have worked in a highly regulated industry and be familiar with handling approvals and assurances processes within the projects you are managing. You must have experience of managing at least one significant rail project/programme within operations, engineering or construction. Ideally we are looking for 10+ years experience within the rail sector from a TOC, FOC, Consultancy or Infrastructure Owner/Operator.
Ideal Background
Our ideal candidate will have previous experience within the rail sector or within a similar private or public transportation company with a keen passenger focus.
Experience of managing multiple projects streams from initial conception through to completion is essential.
Experience of managing high value, long term change programmes is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing a team / department and have reported in at Board level or liaised with Board level stakeholders.
Education:
* Ideally degree qualified, but is not essential.
* Ideally a background working at a high level driving transformational projects for a Rail company, Transportation Company or Public Body.
* Prince 2, APM or other formal Project Management qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
