Principal / Senior Land Surveyor
Purpose of Job: Gathering of data to produce topographical survey information in accordance with client requirements
Duties and responsibilities:
Drive to location of work, as specified by Line Manager
Adhere to working instructions as specified from internal and external clients
Conduct internal paperwork as required
Communicate with internal and external parties
Survey areas as indicated within working instructions
Undertake topographical and associated land survey works in conjunction with other company activities and in accordance with company procedures
Operation of surveying instrumentation including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners and mobile mapping systems for data collection
Post processing of survey data using appropriate software, to produce survey models & drawing deliverables
Work in conjunction with utility surveyors to map underground service routes, as detected on site
Provide assistance and deputise for Principle Surveyor & Project Managers, as required
Assist with preparing estimates and quotations
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications etc.
Evaluate surveyor competency and conduct training as required, including mentoring of junior staff and providing feedback relating to general performance
Maintain equipment as required
Attend client & site meetings, as required
Essential Professional/Technical Skills & Requirements
Relevant industry related qualifications
Driver’s license
Computer literate
Willing to work away from home when required
Willing to work flexible hours when required
Can adapt to varied working environments.
Can interpret maps and plans
Ability to work to deadlines & targets
Good communication skills
The post holder will be expected to attend and pass internal and industry recognised external training courses. This will include Network Rail (PTS), EUSR, safety passport, manual handling and equipment familiarisation.
