Head of SHESQ
Based Leeds

You will be our Senior SHESQ representative within one of our Alliance partnerships, looking after rail, and the fulcrum for all matters related to Safety, Health, Environment, Sustainability and Quality within the Joint Venture (JV).

Within the Alliance area you will:
* Work with the JV partners, Head of SHESQ UK and Ireland drive and implement Murphy Group SHESQ policies, standards and performance objectives
* Promote a positive SHESQ culture
* Act as functional lead to SHESQ staff
* Be an exemplar of the desired SHESQ behaviours
* Play a lead role in developing and reviewing Murphy SHESQ strategy and plans
* Act as a member of the relevant management board meeting

Key responsibilities and duties:
* Contribute to the establishment and promotion of strategy, plans and best practice in SHESQ matters in conjunction with the SHEQS Director and Head of SHESQ Systems and Assurance and all alliance partners
* In conjunction with the Alliance management team set annual objectives for the improvement of SHESQ standards and promote initiatives designed to achieve those objectives to support delivery of overall Murphy Group SHESQ objectives
* Drive a One Murphy approach to SHESQ matters in their business area
* Monitor and report on the SHESQ performance within their business area and develop recovery plans as necessary
* Contribute towards the development, review and improvement of the Murphy Integrated Management System ensuring continuing certification to relevant standards with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001
* Ensure all Business Area SHESQ statistics are collated in a timely manner and submitted to Group SHESQ for reporting purposes. Conduct reviews to identify trends and address areas for improvement
* Produce routine SHESQ reports for review and discussion at relevant business management meetings
* Co-ordinate and develop SHESQ support within the business area and ensure that the capabilities and competencies of SHESQ staff within the area meet the desired standards

What we hope you'll be able to demonstrate:
* Demonstrable experience in a senior SHESQ role in the rail industry
* Relevant industry experience
* Track record in leading SHESQ for a business/area/region within a construction related environment
* Joint venture experience would be advantageous
* NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety / NVQ Level 5 Diploma / or equivalent
* Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution e.g. IOSH, CQI, IEMA IRRSM
* Relevant CSCS Card Black
* Full Driving Licence
