Role Profile:
Reporting to the Head of QEHS Asset Management.
Leads health, safety and environment activity for London Rail Projects. Manages the overall Operational direction for London Rail Projects to enable world class delivery EHS in line with telent's EHS strategy and business plans. Act as the focal point for expert advice on EHS to London Rail Projects and stakeholders.
Key accountabilities
Provide Operational support to the Project Team on all EHS matters
Provide EHS leadership for all project and programme teams through directly managing the London Rail Projects and EHS support team.
Provide timely and compelling EHS advice across London Rail Projects organisations.
Lead the work with the Safety Leadership Team to deliver risk controls necessary to manage risks to levels that are 'As Low As Reasonably Practicable', in compliance with corporate processes and systems.
Manage CDM compliance for projects.
Support the Project teams to develop and implement risk-based monitoring programmes to test compliance with legislative obligations and company processes and procedures.
Support the behavioural change programmes required by the wider company policies.
Develops, implements and oversees London Rail Projects environmental health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities and practices are following regulations.
Implementation of the EHS management system relevant to London Rail Projects and operations.
Responsible for the EHS services to the business unit and the line management of assigned EHS resources, including competent H&S advice as required by UK law.
Participation as member of London Rail Projects Safety Leadership Team and provision of EHS performance metrics in line with London Rail Projects business requirements to support effective leadership action and decision making.
Support and mentor assigned EHS resources.
Ongoing development of Business Unit competency and performance in EHS related matters.
Ongoing development and support of the London Rail Projects safety culture.
Typical Deliverables:
Investigates incidents and promotes safety-conscious work performance and training programmes.
Provides safety performance measures and periodic performance reporting to support Safety Leadership & Exec oversight.
Manages telSAFE process for London Rail Projects.
Leads investigations.
Implements the Fair Culture process.
Manages actions from investigations.
Creates lessons learned from incidents.
Defines procedures and processes for safe systems of work (including review of Method Statements, Risk Assessments etc)
Manages all London Rail Projects EHS performance data.
Delivers EHS Training and Briefings.
Defines minimum standards for delivery of works including the evaluation of Client requirements and changes to legislation.
Risk based and Contract compliant inspection programmes.
Embeds the behavioural safety program and Culture change initiatives with London Rail projects and manages the delivery of EHS Corporate and Transport Objectives and program.
Client facing representation for EHS.
Delivers Site and office-based inspections and audits.
Provision of Bid support and business development materials
EHS communications and awareness materials and associate briefings
Business Operations Skills - Experience:
Relevant experience in managing specialist teams in support of the delivery of construction projects and programmes.
Good understanding of risk management.
Good understanding of sustainability in the design and delivery of projects.
Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
Strong influencing and leadership skills.
Good knowledge of railway and/or construction health, safety and environmental legislation.
Good working knowledge of the application of CDM in a rail environment
Working Knowledge of LUL QUENSH.
Good knowledge of LUL and Network Rail's management systems.
Good knowledge of railway operational and contractual practices.
Good knowledge of construction practices.
A relevant qualification in training i.e NVQ3.
Relevant auditor qualifications (minimum internal auditor qualification).
Computer literate Office 365
Clean Driver licence
Working knowledge of LUL and NR standards
Business Operations Skills - Qualifications:
Chartered membership of IOSH required
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement)
Relevant Environmental Qualifications/Membership (e.g. AIEMA)
Audit Qualification
