As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

McGinley Support Services has a long standing relationship with the rail industry to supply a professional reporting function to track work delivery units that keep the rail network operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 365 days a year.
Due to exceptional performance to date and being recognised as "best in class" in some areas of the UK, we are looking to add to our weekend team to continue to deliver and improve the service to our clients.
Working exclusively on the weekend you will be part of a tight knit, specialist team that will cover either 3 shift or 5 shift systems that run from Friday night to Monday morning every weekend. You will deliver progress reports across a several worksites that will keep a variety of stakeholders updated throughout the weekend on progress of engineering works as it happens in real time. You will develop key relationships with on site engineering teams, project managers, project directors, network control centres and safety critical on call teams.
As such we are looking for individuals who have an in depth knowledge of track disciplines and how rail worksites operate, a calm, confident, proactive personality, an excellent telephone manner and 1st class I.T. skills with particular knowledge of excel with significant attention to detail.
On offer are 8 and 12 hour shifts to cover Friday night, Saturday day, Saturday night, Sunday day and Sunday night at circa £18 to £21 per hour PAYE. Limited companies can be considered. You must be able to cover Friday and Sunday nights on a rostered basis to be considered. You will work with an experienced team who have been providing this service for over two years, who will support, guide and mentor you through the process.
