You will be joining a reputable and firmly established, rail and civil engineering contractor with a national presence and a company turnover approaching circa £300m (Group TO £500m+). As a specialist civil, building, mechanical and electrical renewals and maintenance business recognised on contracts and frameworks across the country, you will become part of a renowned brand name and team giving you the opportunity to grow in conjunction with this ambitious and forward-thinking business. With a huge forward order book and long term secured work on projects and frameworks around the country, your role as the Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) will see you taking the lead in the delivery of civil engineering Designs for rail minor works, specifically including bridges of varying description, embankment repairs, piling works, platforms extensions, re-gauging and general maintenance, station works, footbridges etc.
You will be responsible as the CEM for various renewals contracts including asset management and IP works, for the implementation of civil engineering designs, overseeing the works and managing a considerable team of Contractors Responsible Engineer’s (CRE) including associated competency assessment and appointment. You will be responsible for ensuring all associated Network Rail standards are cascaded and briefed across your team, whilst liaising with design consultants (internally with the in-house design team and externally with design consultants) to ensure design feasibility, practicality, economy, compliance and suitability on all associated projects.
You should have experience in a similar Design Manager / Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) role working in a rail projects or maintenance environment with a solid understanding of Network Rails Engineering Standards.
As a Design Manager / Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) you should be educated to a minimum of degree level with a qualification in civil engineering (e.g. BSc Civil Engineering/ MEng / CEng) and ideally you will hold a chartered accreditation (Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers MICE).
Salary and benefits
Circa £60,000 To £70,000 salary plus package including car or car allowance, healthcare, pension, life assurance etc.
