Our public sector client is England’s first sub-National Transport Body. They were formed to transform the transport system across the North of England, providing the infrastructure needed to drive economic growth.

They now require a Communications Manager, to work out of their Manchester based offices. There will be travel involved across the North West region.

Job Description:

The Communications Manager will manage our client’s corporate communications team, devising and delivering effective external and internal communication campaigns. They’ll be responsible for day-to-day planning, management and delivery of all communication services, including media relations, social media, corporate design and brand development – helping drive awareness and interest in our activities.

What we’re looking for:

The successful candidate will possess extensive experience of managing corporate communications activities including, social media, internal communications, conference and events and e-communications as well as successful management of media relations within a similar organisation. You will bring creative flair and editorial nous to the team, designing proactive campaigns that bring our messages and programmes to life.

You will have substantial experience of establishing effective working relationships with stakeholders and building contacts and networks, with a proven ability to negotiate and influence others at all levels. Outstanding verbal and written skills with the ability to produce reports and presentations using raw data when required is essential, as is the ability to translate complex issues into appropriate formats for target audiences.

You must be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, with previous experience within a political environment and will have experience of managing and leading specialist consultants.
