As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

Are you looking for your next long term contract position?
 
My client is a large design and build contractor who are looking for x2 commercial managers to join there signalling division. The team require additional experienced support to manage subcontract packages of work and assist on one of their London projects.
 
Location: London or Croydon
 
Rate: Dependant on experience - will be inside IR35
 
Contract Length: 18 months +
 
Job Description
This role is a responsible for leading a team of Commercial Professionals in the delivery of a portfolio of projects and providing robust commercial support to Project Delivery Directors.
 
The role will be primarily responsible for the S&T Framework in the Anglia region although based in  London. The role will be part of a high performing project delivery organisation, with a focus on governance, meeting or exceeding key business performance objectives, and ensuring that commercial risks are properly identified and managed at all times.
 
Requirements:
oProven track record in rail signalling schemes
oCommercial manager experience within rail projects
oExcellent negotiation skills, coupled with practical experience and an in-depth understanding of the best ways in which to maximize the mutual benefits to be gained from the effective and commercial interpretation of contracts.
