As lockdown restrictions ease and we start to consider travelling again, the future of cross-Channel operator Eurostar remains uncertain.
Eurostar is seeking financial support from the UK Government, citing higher access charges here as a reason.
The French Government has pledged to provide support for the operator, while £200 million has been provided by one of its shareholders, Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Hermes Infrastructure.
Registered in the UK and supporting 3,000 jobs either with the business or in the supply chain, the company is, however, 55% owned by SNCF (French state rail), 40% by CDPQ/Hermes and 5% by SNCB (Belgian state railways).

Clerk of Works - Rail Station Upgrade

CarmichaelUK are recruiting for a Clerk of Works with extensive knowledge of rail station upgrades, heavy civils and precast RC.

Knowledge of MEP would also be highly advantageous.

Works are expected to last 12 months .

Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the works are constructed in accordance to the design and specifications
• Overseeing Health and Safety
• Quality control especially of materials
• Checking risk assessments and method statements
• Monitoring and recording project milestones and information
• Advising the contractor within the contract agreement
• Attending meetings
• Reporting on progress
• Liaison and interacting with the Resident Engineer and the Contractor’s personnel

Requirements are as follows:

• A civil engineering or construction related qualification / equivalent
• Extensive knowledge of the UK specifications
• Major project experience working on rail station upgrades preferably with the main contractor
