The Company
My Client is a principal contracting company who undertake Civil Engineering, Rail Infrastructure and Reactive Maintenance projects across the UK,
The company is currently growing year on year and has recently taken on multiple Civils & Rail Infrastructure projects with local authorities and Rail Organisations.
They have a friendly and personable team, have been trading many years and have low staff attrition.
Due to new projects my Client are now looking for TWO additional Design Team members to work on the design phase of Rail Infrastructure projects throughout the UK..
The Role
Working across multiple secured Framework projects on Rail infrastructure Upgrades.
The role will invovle:
Innovation and confidence to put forward solutions based on sound engineering principles.
Challenge the brief, enabling innovative development of unambiguous engineering solutions from feasibility through to detailed design.
CRE (Design) experience on Network Rail schemes.
Design and Checking of engineering solutions.
Production of clear, consistent, referenced calculations, reports and sketches to current CoP and Standards.
Clear communication of design philosophy and requirements.
Design representative at meetings with the project team and/or external Clients and Stakeholders. Ensure work is delivered within the team’s financial, quality and programme targets.
Promote safe working practices in all areas.
Assist change and develop more efficient processes and design tools to assist the efficient delivery of engineering services
The Candidate
5 years’ experience in the design of Civil Engineering structures.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in assessment and design, ideally of railway bridges and station structures including Condition Surveys.
Experience in rail with associated understanding of bridges, earthworks, drainage and highways interfaces.
Appreciation of factors influencing the buildability of design solutions, including engagement with planners, estimators and construction staff to establish the most sustainable, efficient and economic methods of construction and use of materials within the boundaries of technical requirements. Experience of working on multi-disciplinary projects including interactions with E&P, Signalling, Telecoms, P’Way, and OLE.
Confident at designing in steel, concrete, composites, masonry and timber.
Working knowledge of relevant Structural Assessment and Design software packages.
Knowledge of Engineering drawing practices.
Working knowledge of relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and Regulatory Body Standards. Awareness of ISO 9001 / 14001 / 44001, PAS 1192 and OHSAS 18001 Standards.
Understanding of SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design of Civil Engineering structures and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in assessment and design, ideally of railway bridges and station structures; this should include the planning and undertaking of condition surveys for Assessment.
